The ‘selling’ isn’t over when we land a new cleaning account – and, it’s not over when we hire a new employee. Today more than ever applying the NOTICE-able Principle of ‘People appreciate what they NOTICE’ may be a powerful way for us to delight and keep employees in an environment which has become as competitive in keeping people as it is in keeping clients.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan makes the case for ‘installing’ NOTICEable practices as deliberately in your employee retention efforts as you are or should be doing in your client retention efforts. Then he gives three practical examples of what these NOTICEable Appreciation strategies might look like.

Efficient isn’t always the same as - effective. And, when it isn’t, we have to see what we may be losing by leveraging technology to create faster ways of managing our business by eliminating points of personal connection with clients. And, better than using the term ‘points’, we may want to say – opportunities!
.
Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan ‘preaches’ about the dangers of losing valuable chances to ‘visit’ with/connect with our customers. These opportunities can be found in the selling and bidding process before we ‘land’ the job, to how we handle the review of documents like quality control inspections after we land the job. Selling and the need to build strong personal/professional relationships with building owners and managers isn’t over when we are awarded a job; in many ways - it’s just begun.

Mere mortals may fight change, but we small business owners are cut from a different cloth. To us, change is more opportunity- than- problem. In fact, we often run to it; trying to capture the edge, the advantage we can deliver and leverage for our customers.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan shares a humorous story about how his kids/younger people are ‘corrupting’ the language. Then, on a more serious note, describes how he and his business partner fought every day for every small victory, every small advantage they could in designing their software to make it clearer, faster and most importantly more effective! Then, he makes the case for doing the same kind of thing in your cleaning business.

Why do these things work? I don’t know exactly, but maybe like me, you’ve just come to accept –they just do. Dan’s dad would say, ‘You get out of something, what you put into it’. Scientists might explain the ‘observer effect’ and leave you with the same conclusion – that while some human phenomenon are hard to explain, they do seem to exist. The question is – whether we’ll leverage them or not.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan shares a thought from his dad and then an explanation about quantum physics from scientists – all to make a point. The point has to do with how you approach your life, your work – really anything. Will it be energetically or apathetically – and, what difference it can make.

Procedure are good. It’s important to document and track information. Scheduled marketing pieces being sent out and professionally designed websites are great too. But, the additional HUMAN component of everything, including when it comes to business – cannot be emphasized enough.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan makes the case for making ‘personal connection’ (HUMAN-izing for the purposes of this video) an important part of both the operations side and marketing side of your cleaning company. Then he gives practical examples of what this HUMAN-ized approach might actually look like in a real cleaning business, like yours.

A goal is a goal is a goal. Not true. All goals are not created the same. Some simply point, while others excite, motivate – inspire. Knowing what kind do the latter can make a big difference, not only in the ultimate results, but also in the energy, enjoyment and satisfaction felt each day in getting there.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan explains the difference between goals as simply targets versus those that can daily engage and inspire you and your team to willingly tackle even the toughest problems along the way to achieving the goal. Plus, he gives a practical example of a cleaning business goal that has the potential to not only point, but to actually inspire.

Some strategies are so valuable – they’re worth repeating. Today’s is one. You work so hard to find, attract, bid, land and staff a job. But, if you’re not careful, you can let lose some or all of the value of that new customer, simply by making this one mistake. I felt it was TOTALLY worth repeating. I hope you’ll agree.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan reminds everyone of a strategy so important from a growth, effort and money standpoint – in less than 2 minutes. Hope you don’t need reminding of the strategy, but if you do, it may be one of the most valuable messages you ever heard – repeated.

Yep, everyone has their total embarrassing, meltdown story I suppose. This one may be ours. The worst part is it could have been easily avoided – but, it wasn’t. The details don’t convey just how upsetting and embarrassing it was. But, I’ll try.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan shares what may be one of the most embarrassing nights of cleaning he and Tony ever had. It starts with ‘bleach’ and ends up with carpet changing colors from brown to yellow. It wasn’t good. ‘nuf said. You’ll want to hear this.
